Florida Pool Fences - What are the Best Fence Colors for a Swimming Pool Fence?

What are the Best Fence Colors for a Swimming Pool Fence?

While one would think that choosing the best fence colors for a swimming pool fence is completely subjective; in most cases, that presumption would be correct. However, if you look at it objectively, and house/patio color is not an option, the choice can generally be broken down into two categories:

  1. Do you want to see the swimming pool fence?
  2. Do you not want to see the swimming pool fence?

For those that do not want to see the fence, we need to conjure up a little science to figure out the answer. When it comes to the color of an object, there are two factors that determine the color the human eye sees:

  1. The color wavelengths an object reflects.
  2. The color wavelengths an object absorbs.

Most objects reflect light, and all objects absorb light. The amount of absorption and reflection determines the color that the human eye sees. A white piece of paper, for example, absorbs all color and reflects all color. When this happens, we actually see the color white. However, if a red light was shown on the same white paper it would reflect only red light. The paper itself would appear red to the human eye. An object’s color reflection is based on color wavelengths that are shown at it.

The Sun emits all colors on objects (although not with the same intensity). So for those of you that do not want to see the swimming pool fence, or, at least have it be less observable, you will want to find a color that reflects the least amount of color wavelengths with the sun shining on the fence. The number one color with those attributes is black. Black reflects the least amount of color wavelengths. As a matter of fact, it does not reflect any color wavelengths. As a result, a black swimming pool fence is the least distinguishable.

For those that want the most projectable or loudest fence color for a swimming pool fence, one needs to look at the other end of the color spectrum. An object with the most color wavelengths reflected, and thus more visible to the human eye is the color white. So now you’ll know what the best fence colors for a swimming pool fence are.
